Planva works offline on remote fields. Scouts record photos, notes, pests, and tasks on the phone with no signal, then sync when the connection returns.
Remote fields break the product that needs a live map tile to save an observation. The scout still has to walk the hectare today. Offline is not a backup mode in Planva. It is how the mobile app is used.
What works without a signal
- The field map already on the phone. Including the anomaly polygon to walk.
- Geotagged photos and notes. Pinned to the spot, not to a later memory of the field.
- Pests, disease, and crop stage. Captured as the observation, not typed up at the office.
- Tasks created or closed in the field. Then synced with the desk when the network returns.
How to run a remote-field day
- Sync before leaving coverage. Open the fields and tasks the scout will walk.
- Walk the polygon, not the whole field. Record what the satellite queue asked.
- Save on the phone. Photos and tasks stay on the device until a signal exists.
- Sync at the office, the truck, or home. The desk sees the observation on the same field object.
Who should not buy
Do not buy Planva if you expect live streaming imagery in a dead zone. Do not buy if scouts will not carry the phone into the field. Offline monitoring still needs a person on the hectares that changed.
